Books and Supplies

Books

Each family pays for their textbooks as part of their annual fees.  Families are responsible for purchasing their summer reading books.

​

Summer Reading Assignments:

Students are assigned a book to read during the summer so that they can come prepared in the fall upon returning to school to discuss the book.  Here are the reading lists for this summer:

Kindergarten entering 1st Grade: Magic Treehouse Series by Mary Pope Osborne (parents to read with child if needed)

​

1st Grade entering 2nd Grade: The Boxcar Children (advanced readers); Any I Can Read Level 3book (all other readers)

​

2nd Grade entering 3rd Grade: Trumpet of the Swan by E B White.

​

3rd Grade entering 4th Grade:  A Cricket in Times Square by George Selden.

​

4th Grade entering 5th Grade:  Justin Morgan had a Horse by Marguerite Henry.

​

5th Grade entering 6th Grade:  Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls.

​

6th Grade entering 7th Grade: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer Abroad, or Tom Sawyer Detective. All by Mark Twain.

​

7th Grade entering 8th Grade: Complete the Fellowship of the Ring. Recommended also The Two Towers by JRR Tolkien

School Supplies

All grades:  

  • 4 Boxes of facial tissues (Kleenex)

  • 12 Regular #2 pencils & Erasers 

NO MECHANICAL PENCILS UNTIL 5TH GRADE.

  • Ruler (inches & centimeters) (except Kinders)

  • Scissors

  • Disinfecting wipes

Smelly markers, Sharpies and mechanical pencils are not allowed in K-4th grades

 

Kindergarten:  (no pencil box needed)

  • 3 erasers

  • 12 glue sticks: Elmer's white or purple

  • 1 bottle white glue

  • Fat primary color markers: Crayola

  • Twistable crayons (24): Crayola

  • Colored pencils

  • Watercolors (16): Crayola

  • 2 - 2 Pocket folders

  • 1 Large bottle hand sanitizer

  • Antibacterial Hand Wipes

  • 2 Rolls of paper towels

1st Grade:

First grade won't need supplies for the class. In lieu of supplies

we are asking for a $40 donation per child.  We will purchase what is 

necessary for the year.  This will ensure that each child has the same

supplies which fit the needs of our class.  Please send in your 

donations as soon as you are able and let Mrs. Alday know to 

direct your donations to first grade.

2nd Grade:

  • 8 Glue sticks 

  • 2 Bottles white glue

  • 12 regular # 2 pencils

  • 4 Erasers

  • 1 Set of classic colored markers (12 max)

  • Twistable crayons (24 max)

  • Watercolors

  • 1 Pack fine dry erase markers & eraser

  • 2 Plastic 2-Pocket folders 

  • Spanish notebook

  • Plastic Pencil Box 8”x 5” x 2”

  • 9” x 12” whiteboard

Please put your child’s name or initials on each crayon and marker (with a sharpie)

 

3rd  Grade:​

  • 12 regular # 2 pencils

  • 4 erasers

  • 4 red pens

  • 1 set each of fine point markers & colored pencils

  • watercolors

  • 6 Glue sticks

  • 3 composition notebooks or 3 spiral one subject notebooks

  • 5 -2 Pocket folders for Classwork/Homework/Spanish

  • One subject notebook for Spanish

  • Pencil Pouch

  • Twistable crayons 24 max

  • loose leaf paper (wide rule or college rule)

 

4th  Grade:​

  • 2 small pencil sharpeners (with lid for shavings)

  • 3 - 8-1/2”x11”spiral notebooks (150-250 pages for History,Religion and Latin)

  • 5  2- Pocket folders

  • Spanish notebook

  • Graph paper for math

  • Loose leaf notebook paper (college rule)in 

binder (with 5 pocket dividers) or 

one 7-pocket expanding file with top closure. 

  • 1 Set each of fine point colored markers and pencils 

  • Dictionary & Thesaurus

  • Covers for non-consumable texts

  • Spanish/English Dictionary

  • Ruler

  • Scissors

  • protractor

  • compass (with sharp point and cork cover)

  • pencil sharpener (with lid to collect shavings)


 

7th-8th Grade

  • 5 Single subject notebooks (no multi-subject)

  • Mechanical pencils

  • Red pens

  • Colored pencils

  • 5 Glue sticks

  • 3 Folders (must be separate from any binders)

  • Binder paper (no clear tape on the edge)

  • 4 - 8-1/2”x11” Spiral notebooks (150-250 pages for History, Art History, Religion and Latin)

  • Spanish notebook

  • Graph paper

  • Ruler,  protractor, and compass (compass needs to have a sharp point and a cork cover)

  • Dictionary

  • Spanish/English Dictionary and Spanish Verbs Dictionary

  • pencil sharpener with lid to collect pencil shavings

NOT ALLOWED:

white-out, large pencil cases, felt pens
